Session Formats

In-Person Sessions

At Troy Elementary School: If your child attends Troy Elementary, I offer sessions there for convenience and consistency. Sessions are 30-45 minutes of focused, one-on-one instruction or small group work.

At Troy Public Library: If your child attends another school, I meet at the local library in Troy, AL. A neutral location with a quiet space for focused learning.

Virtual Sessions

I also offer virtual tutoring through Google Meet for families who need flexibility, transportation relief, or a home-based option that keeps instruction personal and structured. Sessions are just as effective online as in-person.

How Tutoring Works

Step 1: Schedule a Session

Use the calendar to choose a date and time that works for your family. Pick how many students (1-5 per group).

Step 2: Share Your Child's Focus

Tell me what your child is working on. Is it reading fluency? Math facts? Writing? Any specific goals or concerns?

Step 3: Lesson & Learning

I'll structure the session: I'll teach a focused skill, we'll practice with support, and your child will do independent practice. No busy work—real learning.

Step 4: Communication

After each session, you'll hear what we worked on, how it went, and what to work on at home (if you want to). You're in the loop.

Pricing & Booking

Session Rates

One-on-one session: $25
Small group (2-5 students): $25 per student
Duration: 30-45 minutes (depending on focus and needs)
Payment: Cash App or direct payment after session
Cancellation: 24-hour notice appreciated (no penalty)

Before You Book

Tutoring works best when there's consistency. One session helps. A few sessions help more. Weekly sessions over 4-6 weeks show real progress. Consider:

How often can you commit? Weekly is ideal.
Is your child ready to work with someone new? Some students need time to warm up.
Can you support the learning at home? Doesn't mean hours of homework—just 10-15 minutes of practice.

FAQ: Tutoring

How do I know if my child needs a tutor?

Watch for patterns: homework takes much longer than expected, reading practice ends in tears, math facts are still shaky after classroom practice, or your child says "I'm just not good at this." Early support prevents small gaps from becoming big ones.

How long until I see results?

Most families notice attitude shifts first: your child is more willing to read, more confident trying harder work. Academic gains follow with consistency. In 4-6 weeks of weekly sessions, you'll see real progress.

Can tutoring replace classroom instruction?
